Data Critical Introduces Secure Page+
Application Allows For Secure, Reliable Data Transmission Over Wireless Networks

REDMOND, Wash. June 29, 1995 Data Critical Corporation, an emerging provider of applications for wireless networks, has introduced Secure Page+, a Microsoft Windows-based application that allows confidential data to be sent over paging networks protected from prying eyes. Virtually any type of data, including word processing documents, images, spreadsheets or graphs, can be sent securely to hand-held, car-mounted or desktop computers.

Secure Page+ was designed for mobile workers who need to receive information quickly and efficiently, while still maintaining confidentiality. For example, the application can be used to transmit pricing updates to sales representatives while they are out in the field. With its broadcast paging capability, Secure Page+ can transmit data simultaneously to an unlimited number of recipients within minutes.

The application uses Data Critical's patented Data-Through-Paging (DTP) protocol to securely and accurately transmit data over existing alphanumeric paging networks or private paging transmitters. Secure Page+ features Data Encryption Standard (DES) for security, as well as exceptional data compression for fast message and file transfers.

"In essence, Secure Page+ using paging transforms a personal digital assistant or notebook computer into a one-way 'secure data receiver,'" said Jeff Brown, president of Data Critical. "Because of the limited bandwidth of wireless networks, a premium is placed on efficiency in transmission to save time and money. That's why we've placed particular emphasis on compression in Secure Page+."

Although Data Critical is currently using paging networks for transmitting data, the company is network independent. "As other wireless networks become fully available, including CDPD and PCS, we will incorporate these technologies to enhance our current offerings," Brown said. He added that two-way communication will eventually be offered to allow people to respond to the information they receive.

Headquartered in Redmond, Wash. with a research and development facility in Oklahoma City, Data Critical is a cost-effective solutions provider for the wireless industry. The company offers a variety of wireless communication applications, with a focus on saving lives, time and costs.
