Description: The QUIZZER is a program that can help you learn word
definitions or phrases much easier than conventional
methods. The quiz files and its score files cannot be
edited with any text editor, so there's little chance
of any cheating or hacked test scores. Now included in
the package is QUIZEDIT, which allows you to create and
edit quiz files for the QUIZZER, and will help you make
distributable QUIZZER disks for an entire class or group.

Notes: The QUIZZER can be a helpful utility for schools and
businesses, allowing you to train students or test their
knowledge on any subject you wish. QUIZEDIT will allow
you to have full control over the quizzes that you
create, and also allows you to see each student's results
at a glance. All quiz and score files are compressed and
encrypted, so they cannot be modified by anyone without
                QUIZEDIT.

History: I've wanted to design a program like this for a while,
and after months of brainstorming and note taking, I
threw these programs together in a few days.

Minimum System Requirements:
Hardware & O.S. - IBM 8086 compatible, floppy drive, MS-DOS
Anything better than this will be able to use the program. A printer is
suggested so you can print out documentation.

Using the program:
In order to use this program, I suggest that if you have a hard
drive, to copy this program and all of its included files into its own
directory on your hard drive. To do this, please run INSTALL.EXE to copy
the program to your hard drive (or you can do it yourself with MS-DOS or
Windows).
The included BBSTERM quiz tests your knowledge about computer
bulletin board systems and many of the commonly-used terms, and is
included simply to let you see how QUIZZER looks and feels.
If you think this program would be great to test your students,
employees, your kids, or even yourself, you should register this
program. QUIZEDIT gives you the power to create and edit your own
quizzes, to create distributable QUIZZER disks that you can pass out to
students/employees, and it even lets you read the score files from your
students' or employees'disks so you can see how well they do on the
quizzes you create. The QUIZZER and any quiz files you design are freely
distributable and you can make any number of copies of them that you wish,
but the QUIZEDIT program should NOT be redistributed, and you should only
keep one working copy and a backup copy of QUIZEDIT, in a safe place.
QUIZEDIT creates files that end with the .QIZ extension. These
are the actual quiz files that QUIZZER.EXE can execute. These quiz
files are saved in a compressed and encrypted format, so nobody can
edit the quizzes you create. When someone uses QUIZZER (or when you
take a quiz using QUIZEDIT) another file type is created, the score
file. All score files have the .TOP extension, and contain a list of
the top ten scores for the .QIZ file with the same name. The score
files are also saved in a compressed and encrypted format so they can't
be edited, but they can be read by QUIZZER and QUIZEDIT.
When you create distributable QUIZZER disks to hand out to a
class or a group of people, the QUIZZER.EXE file and any .QIZ files
that you choose are copied to each disk. You can then hand the disks
out and have the individuals return them to you after they have taken
the quizzes that you designed. Then you can review each individual's
QUIZZER diskette by using QUIZEDIT and selecting the 'read scores from
disk' option, which will let you see the .TOP score files for each
quiz the individual took.
These are some of the benefits that QUIZZER and QUIZEDIT have
to offer, but there are many more that I'm sure you won't realize
until you have used them for a while. For example, you don't have to
photocopy and hand out quizzes to a group, and each quiz can be taken
a limitless number of times. The QUIZZER can be a great study tool,
and may even be more helpful than regular homework assignments in some
cases. Every time the QUIZZER is used to take a quiz, all of the
multiple-choice answers are randomized for each question, so no two
quizzes are alike - this keeps the quiz from getting stale, makes
cheating more difficult, and can help students learn better than your
standard paper quiz.

Finally, I'd like to say that if you have any comments,
suggestions or questions, let me know ASAP. And also important - if you
find any bugs in this program, get in touch with me! I try my best to
make all my software bug-free. Sincerely, Arthur Dellea
