(A) Product Overview
------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Master with Notes is an event reminder, calendar, notebook and
alarm clock all rolled into one. You can also think of it as a convenient
location in which to store and retrieve information - information that is
tailored to your specific needs because you decide what type of
information to store in its database. The information might include
schedules, agendas, cheat sheets, recipes, telephone numbers, birthday
or other holiday reminders just to mention a few. The choice is yours.

Information is stored in Event Master in one of three types of objects:
events, notes and alarms. Events represent significant points in time that
have date granularity (i.e. meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc). They
may occur daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc. Notes are text information
that you enter into a free-form text editor. They can be attached to an
event and/or alarm or they can stand alone. Alarms represent significant
points in time that have both date and time granularity (i.e. 7:30
appointment on Thursday). When they expire they can produce visual
and audible notification to inform you of the need for some immediate
action. Alarms may also be attached to events and/or notes, or they can
stand alone.

Objects are usually viewed in one of two Event Master windows - the List View window and the Calendar View window. The List View window displays the objects in list format while the Calendar View displays them in typical calendar format. Each has a unique set of advantages over the other. Both windows can be displayed by selecting the corresponding entry from Event Master's Taskbar Menu.

Some benefits of using Event Master include:

1) Can display events in both Calendar or List format.

2) Serves as a daily reminder of upcoming events detailing the number
   of days left to prepare.

3) Helps you organize your work space by providing a central location
in which to store your thoughts, ideas or comments in the form of
popup notes which can be quickly accessed in the future using a
powerful search function. Now you can take down those sticky notes
which line the walls of your office or the door of your refrigerator.

4) Allows you to create events, notes or alarms at any time with the
single click of a mouse button. This means you don't have to stop
what your doing and load a separate editor program (like the Windows
notebook editor) when you want to save an idea which pops into your head.

5) Ensures that you will never forget another important meeting or
appointment by providing an alarm function capable of producing
an audible warning when a specified date and time expires.

6) Enables you to group information by subType and selectively
   display it using filters.

7) Helps you manage the size of your event list by utilizing a
configurable auto purge feature capable of removing unwanted
events and their attachments which are no longer needed.

8) Enables you to produce a printed listing of upcoming / impending
   events from which to work.

9) Provides cut and paste facilities enabling you to transfer information
   to-or-from other Window's based applications.

10) Includes extensive online help text explaining all features in
    simple easy to use terms.

11) Date calculator enables you to compare any two dates.

(B) Legal Agreement
----------------------------------------------------------------------

refund of the purchase price.

You agree that neither Solutions by REC nor any officers, directors,

or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. Therefore,
the foregoing limitation may not apply to you.

(C) Install Event Master
------------------------------------------------------------------

Choose the Run command from the Start menu in the Windows taskbar.
Type in the full path name of the install program into the command line (i.e A:\INSTALL.EXE). If Event Master was downloaded from the Internet the install
program name is the same name as the downloaded file.

Once invoked the install program will ask you for a directory name in which to
install Event Master. It will also provide a default directory name which can
be used. If you choose to change the default directory name to something else
the new directory name must include "EVMST32" within its name - preferably as the
last node. This helps keep it separate from any prior or future
releases of the product as well as providing a descriptive title. Floppy and
Network drives will not be accepted.

If an older version of Event Master is already installed on your machine, the
installation process locates it and copies its database to your new directory.
Once Event Master is invoked it will automatically convert the database to the
new format used by the new release of Event Master. Once this release of Event
Master is installed and you've verified that your old data has been converted
properly (i.e. the new release of Event Master is displaying your old data properly),
you can delete the old version and its directory assuming your new directory name
is different from the old directory name.

If the current version of Event Master is already installed on your machine and
you are simply reinstalling it or a 3.2 copy with fixes applied, use the existing
directory name of the installed copy. This install process will overlay all of
the required modules it that directory. Your data base is never overlaid and
will still be available for immediate use following this installation.

If you replace your old PC with a new one (or replace your PC's hard drive), you
will have to install Event Master on the new hard drive (or PC) if wish to
continue using it. Simply use the original install program and registration
acceptance form. Once installed, replace the event.dat file in Event Master's
sub directory with a copy of your old event.dat file. If your unsure of the
sub directory name, you can display it by invoking the About Event Master dialog
from the Help menu.

(E) Enhancements

for Event Master 3.2
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Windows 32 bit code replaces old 16 bit code.

2) Windows 32 bit interface (toolbar messages, property sheets, gray dialogs, etc).

3) Support for International dates.

4) Enhance storage capacity for notes.

5) System Tray icon (which displays the day of month) replaces the Zip Icon.

6) Event Master can now be Uninstalled using the "Add/Remove" icon in Window's
   Control Panel.

7) Alarm sounding can now be made to occur in cycles (i.e. 5 beeps ever 5 minutes).

for Event Master 3.1
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Color option for entries has been added.

2) Events, Notes and Alarms were combined into a single dialog to simplify the
creation of attachments (i.e. alarms attached to events, etc.).

3) Print dialog now gives you the option to specify printer setup parameters
and range of text to print.

4) Print option added to Calendar View.

5) A Repeat checkbox has been added to the Entry Dialog to allow you to mark
fixed date events as repeatable (i.e. anniversaries). Repeatable events
   occur yearly.

for Event Master 3.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) All of the columns are now sortable by clicking on their headers.

2) Tool bars were added to provide quicker access to the most useful functions.

3) All windows have been fitted with a help button or tool bar icon to supply
   context sensitive help.

4) A calendar view window has been added which is capable of display the user's
events in calendar format. Now the user can choose between list and calendar
   view formats.

5) A Taskbar menu has been added which provides the same functionality as the old
Zip Control. Windows 3.1 users will still wish to use the Zip Control due to the lack
of a task bar, while 95 and above users will most likely use only the Taskbar menu
since it doesn't obscure any portion of the window - it resides in the task bar only.

6) All windows, including the list view and calendar view, can now be opened and closed
repeatedly throughout the day without terminating the application. Only when the
Taskbar menu is itself closed does the application terminate. This helps eliminate
the problem of crowding icons in the taskbar and the delay of having to reload the
database index upon multiple start ups.

for Event Master 2.2
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Code ported from Actor (an unsupported language) to C++ (a supported
language) to ensure code maintainability and extensibility. All other
enhancements were created as a result.

2) Header button bar which enables you to sort objects on specified
   header fields.

3) Now you can specify how many backups of the database Event Master will keep.

4) New search function which allows you display all objects of a given type
containing the search string at once. For example, you can request Event Master
to display only those events in its Event list view which contain a given
   string.

5) You can now specify the default size of a popup note window (editor).

6) The addition of a Refresh menu item which enables you to re-sequence objects
for display after a modification renders them out of sequence. In other words,
if you change an object by altering the contents of the field that the list
view happens to be sequenced on (sorted on) you will have to select the Refresh
menu item to reposition in proper sequence. In prior versions of Event Master
a changed object always repositioned itself in the view list immediately follow
the change. This often resulted in the object being position it out of sight
or automatic scrolling to keep a changed object in sight.

6) The elimination of Circular Queue mode which often cause confusion.

7) The install program now adds Event Master to the Programs menu under the Start
button making it easier to re-invoke Event Master once its been closed.

for Event Master 2.1
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Notebook feature added which allows you to create stand alone notes.

2) Alarm clock feature added which allows you to create alarms.

3) Date Calculator added to enable you to easily compare dates.

4) Zip Icon added to enable you to quickly access many of Event Master's
most useful functions (i.e. create new event, note or alarm).

5) Search function enhanced to give you more control over searching
   for strings.

for Event Master 1.2
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Support for 3 new date formats added: (1) Floating Month & Year
(*/DD/*) format, (2) Floating Day & Month (O|D|*) format and
   (3) Age Date (MM/DD/?Age) format. The first two formats allow you
to enter events which occurs monthly. For example a meeting which
occurs on the 1st of every month (*/1/*) or possibly on the 2nd
Thursday of every month (2|5|*). The Age date format allows you
to specify the events age. The year is then calculate for you.

2) Event type field added to each event allowing you to group events
and subsequently display and/or print only those events belonging
to those groups (event types) of interest at the time.

3) Advance Warning Days field added to each event allowing you to
specify at the event level how many days advance warning should
be given - if at all.

4) Duplicate Warning Suppression checkbox added to each event which
allows you to suppress duplicate warnings from being issued by the
event within a 30 day period.

5) Reset Warning Function added to enable you to clear the Last
Warning Date (LWD) on an event (or all events) so that it is
again capable of issuing another advance warning message even
though it may have already issued one within the last 30 days
while having the Duplicate Warning Suppression checkbox selected.

6) Advance Warning System altered to display a message giving the
number of events which fall within their advance warning ranges.
All events which fall within their advance warning ranges are
underlined to let you know that they are the critical events
   which require your immediate attention.

7) Color display pallet added to the event Update dialog which shows
each of the 3 color values (1, 2 & 3) in their assigned colors.
Now you don't have to remember which color (i.e. red) is
assigned to which color value (1, 2 or 3).

8) Auto Purge option added to the User Preference dialog. When
selected all events which are expired and have their Purge
When Expired checkbox selected will automatically be purged
   from Event Master at invocation.

9) Startup View option added to the User Preference dialog allowing
you to specify one of three values: Circular Queue, MM/DD/YYYY
   or Days_To.

10) Find Annotation function added which enables you to search
through multiple annotations for a given string. Once found
the annotation is opened and the found text highlight in
   reverse video.

11) Calendar added to support date calculations.

12) An Uninstall Verification dialog was added to the Uninstall
option to guard against accidental uninstalls. The new
dialog requires you to type in the word "Remove" to
signify confirmation of the uninstall request.

for Event Master 1.1
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Support for a new Floating date type has been added. The new
Floating date type allows you to specify an occurrence,
day-of-week and month. This is useful for floating holidays
which do not have a fixed dates. For example, Mothers Day falls
on the 2 Sunday in May and would have a floating date format of
   2|1|5 (2 - 2nd, 1 - Sun, 5 - may).

2) Alert Levels have been added to help distinguish relative importance
of events. Event Master optionally allows you to associate one of
three alert levels with each event. An alert level's color attribute
determines the display color of an event which has been assigned
that alert level. An alert level may also request the sounding of
an audible alarm (beep) upon Event Master's invocation if assigned
to an event which has a date with a month and day value equal to
the current system date. Attributes (color and audible alarms)
associate with each of the alert levels can be alter by selecting
the Alert Attributes option from the Setup menu.

3) Purge Function was added to aid in cleaning up old unwanted events.
To facilitate the purge function, events were given a new attribute
(field) called Purge to indicate that they are purgable by the purge
function. If a value is not specified in this field, the event is
not purgable via the purge function. Events which represent
anniversaries (i.e. occur once a year) would leave this field blank
to avoid the possibility of being purged. If the field contains
a value it must be in the range of from 1 to 356. Once the event
becomes expired (has a date greater than the current system date)
by that number of days, it is marked purgable and will be removed
upon the next invocation of the purge function by the user. Event
Master also reminds the user to perform the purge function after
a specified number of days (default is 30, but may be changed
   using the Setup menu).

4) Annotation and Event data were combined into a single data file to
eliminate the possibility of an out-of-sync error between event
   and annotation data files.

5) Popup Edit menu know available by pressing the right mouse button
while the mouse cursor is positioned on an event. Simplifies the
selection and processing (i.e. annotate, update or delete) of an
   event.

(F) Common Problems
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1) The Date, Age and Days fields on some of my events are incorrect.
This can happen when the System Date is incorrect. Look for the
System Date in the Status bar at the bottom of the window. If it
is incorrect, correct it using the Date/Time feature on Window's
Control Panel group. If you are using Windows 95 or above, you will
also have to stop and start Event Master for the changes to take affect.

2) Out of Space condition occurs when hard drive becomes full
thus forcing Event Master to abend with a fatal error. Before
restarting Event Master, make room on the hard drive in
question by removing any old obsolete files. If you do not
make room on the hard drive Event Master will abend again
with the same fatal error upon next invocation. Once room
is made and Event Master restarted you will be prompted to
continue your last session where you left off, thus any
changes made to the Event Master files prior to the initial
   error are recoverable.

3) Search function isn't finding object with search text. This occurs
when the object containing the search text has an attached note
which is already opened in a note editor. Event Master doesn't
search these objects because it assumes that they have already
been found. Also, Event Master has many different search functions.
Some search only the list of currently displayed objects while others
search the entire database. Make sure you're using the correct search
   function for the desired results.

(H) Application Files
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Cleanup.exe - Uninstall cleanup program deletes executable & directory.
Evima.bin - Event Master binary image file.
Evmst.exe - Event Master executable.
Evfltr.txt - subType values used as filters.
Event.pro - Event Master profile which keeps tract of your setup parms.
Event.lrs - Last Run Status file keeps tract of state variables from last run.

Event.BKn - Backup version of Event.dat (see note 2).
info.tex - Dialog text displayed in various Event Master dialogs.
Read_me.txt - This document.

1) Help files may be viewed outside of Event Master using Windows
Help facility. Simply invoke Windows Help (i.e. from the Program
Manager) and select the File command from its menu. Type in the
name of the help file specifying its full path name (i.e.
   c:\sbyrec\evmst30\evmst.hlp) and press Enter.

2) Are named Event.Bk1 thru .Bk9 depending on the Backups Retained value
   specified in the Preferences dialog.

(I) Uninstalling (Removing) Event Master.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Uninstalling Event Master is as simple as selecting the Uninstall option
from the Options Menu and typing the word REMOVE in the text field provided.

Alternatively you can select the Uninstall icon from the "Event Master by REC"
program group.

Do NOT uninstall Event Master if your going to install a newer release of
Event Master. The install process searches the old version for your data and
registration so that both may be used with the new release of the product.
If you uninstall the old release of Event Master the new install process
won't be able to find and use your registration and database.

(J) Registering Event Master
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Master is Shareware. It is not Public Domain or Freeware.
For those of you not familiar with the Shareware concept, its chief
purpose is to give the user a chance to try the software before
buying it. Instead of buying Event Master, you register to use it.
Registering Event Master is similar to buying it. Once registered,
it is no longer shareware, and should not be freely distributed.
Registered versions are registered to an individual, and intended
to be used only by that individual.

Advantages of registering include:

1 Free technical support.
2 Notification of free upgrades.
3 Removal of the word "Demo" from the window title.
4 Removal of the "Register" menu option from the List View window.
5 Quicker exit from Event Master do to the suppression of the
    Exit dialog.

In addition to the advantages stated above, registering also helps
preserve the shareware concept for all those (users and authors) who
have come to rely upon it to provide accessible and inexpensive
software solutions.

To register Event Master you must enter a valid password and serial
number in the Register dialog box which is displayed when you select
the Register It command from Event Master's Register menu.

A valid password and serial number can be obtained by remitting a $20.00
registration fee to us here at Solutions by REC. We will respond by
sending you a Registration Acceptance form containing the necessary
information (serial number and password). For $3.00 more we will send
you a 3 1/2" diskette containing a copy of Event Master which is already
register under your name. Of course this is purely optional. All you
really need is a Registration Acceptance form to register the copy of
Event Master that is already installed on your machine.

The quickest most convenient way to register Event Master is on the Internet
at http://wwwSbyREC.com. SbyREC.com provides a secure, reliable connection
allowing you to use most major credit cards to expedite your purchase. You
can even place your order online and phone in you credit card number or fax
in a check if it makes you more comfortable. Once your request is processed
your Registration Acceptance form will be email to you (usually within the
same day).

(K) Getting Additional Support
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You may also wish to review the help document which accompanies Event
Master (invoked by selecting one of the Help commands from Event Master's
Help menu or Pressing F1 key). It contains a great wealth of information
much of which can be located using the Help Document's Search function (button).

The next best place to look for help is in the Technical Support area on
our Internet site http://www.SbyREC.com. It contains a list of frequently
asked questions and answers to those questions. Chances are your question
or problem may already have been addressed within this list. If not, the
site also contains a Request for Technical Support form which you can use
to send us detailed descriptions of your question or problem. The form
asks for background information (i.e. operating system, email address, etc.)
and provides a large text edit area where you can enter the details of
your inquiry.

We here at "Solutions by REC" are trying to remain ever vigilant to our
customers needs. Hence, we will try to respond to your inquires in a timely
manner.

P.S.
If there are any enhancements you would like to see made to the product, by
all means send those as well.
