Installation

4 - Hardware and software requirements

Beginning with release 2.0, CDProW is a full 32-bit Windows
application. This means that it requires Windows 95 (or greater) or
Windows NT to run.

CDProW uses approximately 3,700,000 bytes of disk space for it's
initial installation. This includes demo and help files along with
necessary Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 runtime files.

The Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 runtime file MSVBVM50.DLL is required
in order to run CDProW. If you are running any other Visual Basic 5.0
programs, you already have this file installed on your machine. For
this reason, it is not included in the CDProW installation package.
However, it is available for download from our Web site. To make sure
you have the latest version of the Visual Basic runtime that is
compatible with CDProW, you may download it from our web site or from
Microsoft.

5 - Installation Steps

Important note if you are upgrading from a previous release of CDProW!

Starting with release 2.3 of CDProW, all configuration settings reside
in the system registry rather than file CDPROW.INI. When you install
a new version of CDProW, it does not convert your old configuration
settings to the new version. For this reason, you will need to make
note of the old settings in your previous version (prior to 2.3)
before installing the new version.

Please follow these steps BEFORE you have installed the new version of
CDProW:

	1) Start your old version of CDProW.
	2) Select Help|About and make note of your registration number.
	3) Select Options|Sort and make note of the sort sequence you have
	     selected.
	4) From the Options menu, make note of the Load Last File setting as
well as Default Categories and Auto Calculate Total Time.
	5) Select File|Print Setup and make note of the fonts and font sizes you
	     have selected.
	6) Now you may install the new version of CDProW.
	7) After it has been installed, you should repeat the steps above with
the new version to restore all of your previous settings.

You may now continue with the installation:

     1. If you do not already have the Visual Basic 5.0 runtime file
MSVBVM50.DLL installed on your machine, you must install it
first before you attempt to run CDProW. If you do not have
it, this file is available for download from our Web site or
directly from Microsoft. IMPORTANT! AS OF RELEASE 2.2,
CDProW REQUIRES VERSION 5.0.4319 DATED JULY 19, 1997 of
MSVBVM50.DLL. If you receive any messages that indicate
"Wrong version of run-time DLL", then you do not have the
correct version of MSVBVM50.DLL. To get the correct
version, you may download MSVBVM50.EXE from our web site and
run it. The version on our web site was downloaded directly
from Microsoft and also updates other Visual Basic runtime
files if necessary. We do not recommend copying individual
Visual Basic files to your system. You should only execute
the Microsoft created setup program (MSVBVM50.EXE).

     2. Create a temporary directory that will store the extracted
CDProW Zip file. This directory and its contents may be
deleted after you have successfully installed CDProW.

     3. Unzip the distribution file into the temporary directory.
You have obviously already done this otherwise you would not
          be reading this.

     4. Using Explorer, double click on the SETUP.EXE program in the
temporary directory to start the installation. Optionally,
you can use the Control Panel Add-Remove Programs to install
CDProW. Just point it to the SETUP.EXE program in the
temporary directory. In either case, follow the prompts to
install CDProW on your computer. The default location for
the CDProW program is in "\program files\Bukovics\CDProW".

     5. That's all - the installation is complete. To run CDProW,
simply use your Start Menu, select Programs, then CDProW by
Bukovics! If you need to uninstall CDProW, you can do so
from the Control Panel Add-Remove Programs section.

They are all installed into the \Windows\System directory. If you
already have a version of one of these files, the installation program
will check to see if you have the latest version. If you do, nothing
will be done to your existing file. If your version is older than the
one distributed with CDProW, then the new version will be installed
over your version.

     File Description Version

installation package. They should be in your \Windows\System
directory. If you do not have these files, then you should download
and execute the Microsoft created setup program MSVBVM50.EXE. This
may be downloaded from Microsoft or our web site.
