1 == General information about Nautilus NetRanger ==

Nautilus NetRanger is a powerful and handy Internet toolkit, 
presenting all the tools you need such as:
- Ping
- TraceRoute
- Host lookup
- Finger
- Time/DayTime
- WhoIs
- PortScanner
- IPScanner
- NetStat
- NetConnections
- MailKit
- Quick-dialing
- QoD
to help diagnose network problems and get network information.

Furthermore, it comes with a very high performance in virtue of 
its enhanced multi-threading capablility, as well as a highly 
intuitive interface, in which many amazing features are integrated, 
such as tray icon, smart address parsing, check for upgrade 
online, view local IP address, save to log, and even more.

REQUIREMENTS
- Windows 98/ME/2000
- A working TCP/IP connection to a LAN or the Internet

NOTE for Windows 2000 users
To run ICMP tools (including Ping, TraceRoute, IPScanner) under 
Windows 2000, you must have the permission of accessing raw 
socket. Contact your system administrator for more help.

REGISTRATION
Nautilus NetRanger is shareware. After a 40 day trial period, 
you must either register it or remove it from your computer.

We recommend you to use full installation package to install 
this software. Before you install it, please uninstall any 
previous release.
    
To uninstall this software, just click the "uninstall" icon 
in the program group you installed.

- Network failure event log and alarm sound features for 
IPScanner were introduced.
- The performance of ping scan in IPScanenr was improved 
greatly.
- Fixed a major bug of address resolving in IPScanner.
- Fixed the language setting bug that would bring out a 
error messagebox at startup under Windows 98/Me.
- Removed the limitation that only one ICMP tool could be run
in the same time.
- Fixed some bugs in Ping and TraceRoute, now the scan result
become more accurate.

configuration file on Windows 2000.

- Implemented the multi-language-enabled interface. In present
release, we provide three kind of languges: English, Simplified 
Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
- Now you can input a host name in the input box of IPScanner.
- "Check for update at startup" feature is introduced.
- Fixed the bug that sometimes the subject and the sender 
of a new mail were missed.
- Fixed the bug of wrong ping statistics data display.
- Sort feature of the new mail list in MailKit is introduced.
- Enhanced the double-click behavior on the summary mailbox 
list of MailKit. Now a double click on a mailbox will make 
only the new mails of that mailbox displayed in the right mail 
listbox.
- Now the 'abort' button works in MailKit.
- Improved the check for upgrade feature.
- Improved the output layout of NetStat and Time tools.
- Improved the accuracy of Time query.
- Other minor fixes.

- A bug of calculating the echo time of ICMP packet in Ping 
tool is fixed.
- A few minor bugs of the displaying of the network failure 
message in MailKit are fixed.

- A new feature in IPScanner, "Resolve IP only" is 
introduced. Now you can choose to just resolve the IP list 
instead of to ping them.
- The "resolve IP" feature in IPScanenr is optimized and the 
scan speed is increased significantly accordingly.
- "Quick mode" feature in IPScanenr is improved to increase 
the accuracy of the scan result.

address to WhoIs', the selected address is copied into the 
query box instead of host name/address input box.
- Now the main window of NetRanger can automatically 
resize/reposition the output areas of all tools (including 
the new mail scroll window) to accommodate the change of the 
screen size.
- The new HTML help system is introduced.
- Fixed a couple of minor bugs.

mail.
- Now NetRanger can properly work on Windows 2000.
- The scroll behaviour of the output box of all tools is 
redesigned to improve the readability.

- A new option "Enabled" is introduced in mail accounts 
settings.
- The whole program is optimized technically to improve 
the performance and reduce the system resource consume.
- Fixed the bug that the output in the Whois tool looked 
distorted sometimes.

- Now Smart Addres Parsing feature can even filter the host 
name out of an email address (user@domain.com).
- A button "Recent servers list" is introduced in the whois 
tool. You can get a detailed list output of recent whois 
servers by clicking this button. 
- A button of 'Hang up' is added into the Toolbar.
