Timer V 2.0.x (c) 2000 Educe RegisterTimer@educesoft.com
Access 97 is (c) 1989-1996 Microsoft, Inc.

NOTE:
This is the 2nd release Feb 00. The first release has been working since June 1999.

ABOUT:
This program is designed to capture accurate time accounting information by making the process of data capture so simple that even the most obstreperous user will find it hard to argue that data capture is a 'waist of time'. It is a simple program that sits in the system tray and runs a timer for whichever project or task the user selects. When the user starts a different task, all they have to do is click the mouse button twice (1 to display the application, 1 to select the new task or project). Only current tasks/projects are shown but completed ones can be added at the click of a button. The collected data is available on screen or in a printed report in a user selectable format ie last X number of days information.

INSTALLATION:
Run the set-up program and follow the on screen prompts. NT users may receive an error message as the installation tries to install files that are already installed. Select the ignore option (this does not install the file in question, it does not ignore the NT warning). Once the program has been installed, move the shortcut to your start-up folder if you want it to run automatically each time you run windows.

UNINSTALLATION:
Run the uninstall program by selecting Add/Remove Programs from the Windows Control Panel.

USING Timer:
Open the main window by clicking on the shortcut found on the "Start" button. Log in as user 'Demo' with no password. The first time you run the program you will receive a message titled "Linked Tables" with the message "The data file was not found. Click 'OK' then select the folder with the data file in. (Timer folder)" When you accept the message by clicking "OK" a browse for folder window appears. Select the folder in which you installed Timer ie C:\Program Files\Timer and click "OK". A message "The links were refreshed" will appear. Select "OK", the main screen will appear. Click the "Admin" button and create 1 or more tasks/projects. Close the admin screen and click on the button for one of the newly created task/projects. The application will minimise itself into the system tray and will now be timing your work for the task/project selected. To start collecting time accounting data click on a project button. When it goes green the timer is running. To stop collecting data click the same button again or select another project. Select the admin button and add/view a list of projects. Each project is given its own button on the main screen. The Admin screen can also set the default project that is automatically set running when the program starts. A reminder can be switched on/off from the admin screen and the period between reminders set or changed. Reports can be created from the Summary screen. Options for viewing current or old projects are selected by clicking the "current projects" button. Period for the report is selected by entering the number of days required. The screen will refresh itself as the button is pressed or the days text box is exited. A report can be viewed and printed by clicking on the report button. Raw data can be seen in the Time screen. That's it!
