I'm looking for a complete model III or IV system. If anyone has
a complete system (Unit, drives, cables, software, etc.). let me
know the condition it is in and what you want for it.

Thanks

Robert

Robert,

I have acomplete model 3 system collecting dust in my garage

It is in excelent condition, though I dont know what it is worth
or what a fair price is, ... I turned it on once when it was
given to me 3 years ago but I didn't check it all out, I will
look at it closer if you like, what would it cost to send it to
you ? I also have the wide carrige printer that was new at the
same time this computer was used.

Rob,...

I have a model III, and some extra disk drives for it, you can
have it for the cost of shipping only. It would be shipped from
the area of Philadelphia, PA.

I have five (5) model 4s. All are 128K, 1 is a NGA machine, 1 is
a GA w/RS hi-res graphics, 1 is a GA w/o hi-res graphics, 1 is a
4D w/o HR gfx, and 1 is a 4D w/XLR8er and uLabs HR graphics.

I also have DMP200, DWP230 and DMP2100 printers.

I will not part with the 4D w/uLabs graphics until I get my
MeSs-DOS machine and emulator running properly. At that time I
will also probably offer my 40-meg HD.

I also have a spare XLR8er board w/o software or docs, never
been used.

If any of this is of interest, please let me know and we can
dicker prices.

Frank,
would I be able to use the XLR8er board in either my model 4, or
my model 4p computer?
What would having this board do for me?

Hi Robert, I'll throw my stuff in the ring too. I've got LOTS of
Model III and Model 4 machines, upgrades, programs and upgrades
available here. What would you like in them? Frank Gottschalk

> What would the XLR8er...do for me? <

1) Add 256K RAM
2) Speed up your M4 to 6.144 Mhz
3) Replace the Z80a with the HD64180 micro processor which uses
fewer T-states
for most instructions, thus making the 6.144 Mhz act like ~8
MHz.

I do not have an extra set of manuals for the board. As I
install it with the uLabs gfx board, it installs differently than
"normal," which requires you to cut a hole in the back RF shield
(metal cover) to make room, and add a fibreglass insert (which I
do not have).

I guess you could mount it as though you had a hi-res board,
namely using a 6" ribbon cable to mount the board on the front of
the motherboard RF shield with 2-sided tape and a shirtboard
shield to prevent shorts. This type of mount is kinda tricky.

I like the board because of (a) the speed and (b) the use of up
to 320K for a superfast RAMdrive. If you have old issues of the
MISOSYS Quarterly, there's all kinds of info and articles about
the HD64180 and its capabilities.

It is NOT recommended for early NGA machines, especially those
with no-revision motherboards. Those old board just can't
support the speed. Also, you'll have to replace old RAM to 70 ns
or faster chips.

I have the board as a spare for the one in my 4D. But, after
all these years I'm about to give up and get a MeSs-DOS/Windows
machine with a M4 emulator. When that happens, all my M4 stuff
will be for sale.

I suggest you peruse the pertinent TMQs to see if you want the
board, or the 4D with the XLR8er and uLabs board installed, along
with its 40 Meg HD. Then, if you do, and when I get the new
machine up and running properly, we can talk XLR8er seriously.
IOW, I'm not perpared to sell my main TRS-80 nor the spare XLR8er
until the new Pentium-133 is fully and reliably operational.

P.S. The HD64180 (aka Z180) is NOT compatable with some early M3
operating systems and software which used the so-called
"undocumented" Z80 instructions. Those, if you'll recall, were an
error in the chip which allowed separate access to the high and
low order bytes of the IX and IY registers. They were never
"legal," and are not supported in either the HD64180, Z180 or
Z280.

I have a complete and fully functional TRS-80 Model III
system: 48K RAM, two 180K 5.25 inch disk drives, "Line Printer
IV" dot-matrix printer, 300 baud modem, all cables, full original
documentation, TRSDOS and LDOS operating systems, SCRIPSIT word
processing and other software, loads of spare diskettes. Plus a
run of 80 MICRO (originally 80 MICROCOMPUTING) magazine,
9/1981-85.

I'm quite willing to let it go *cheap* since I'm downsizing
my living quarters. Make me an offer (including shipping
charges
from Chapel Hill, NC).
