I read the messages from Thomas Aubin to you and back (from
July). I have the same problem. I'm trying to print from Word
Perfect in Windows 3.1 to my old Tandy DMP430 and am having
trouble. Can you tell me what the dip switch settings are to
emulate the IBM graphics printer (and how to set them), and what
printer driver to select? I'd appreciate whatever help you have
time to give me.

Adrienne,
The DMP-430 can be set for IBM Graphics emulation by setting
Dip Switch A1 to on (the up position)
This is the way I set the switches on my 430 to print within
windows and DOS programs that did not have the Tandy printers.
Set switches A1,2,4,7,8 to the on position (up) Set A3,5,6 to
off (down) Set B1,2,3,4 to off position. Set the Rotary Switch
to "0" (Zero) and leave it there. The Rotary switch does NOT
function when the printer is set for IBM code. (Switch A1 on)

Hope this will assist you in getting it up and running. It
is a workhorse of a printer which was built by Toshiba. Toshiba
also made the DMP-2100 series of printers also. Latest
information I had was that they built the DWP-II and the DWP-510
series. Most all of the Tandy printers that were made by Toshiba
can be made IBM compatible by changing the ROM chip on the
motherboard. I do know up to 3 years ago the chips were still
avaliable from Toshiba. Fact is the 2100 is a Toshiba P1351 with
Tandy ROM chip.

Take care and happy printing................BobR out here
