1. WHAT IS IT ?
================

This is a useful utility to the following games created by Papyrus Design
Group, Inc. :  IndyCar Racing 2  (=ICR2, I2)
               NASCAR  Racing    (=NR1, N1)
               NASCAR  Racing 2  (=NR2, N2)

LP-Editor is for editing the LP-files available in these games. LP-files
contain the trajectories of AI-cars (Artificial Intelligence = computer
controlled cars) in different situations during a lap on a racetrack. The
longest available racetrack for editing is 5.0 miles.

This program is fully FREEWARE, I am not in contract with Papyrus to make
this program. I hope this program will help lots of racing fans to make
perfect their loved simulators.

This program is written in Borland-C language. LP-Editor is running without
any strange crashes - 100% correctly on my machine. I use a DX2-66 machine,
with MS-DOS 6.2, QEMM 7.04, and 8 MB RAM. This program was virus-free, when
I have transferred it onto the Web.

3. VERSION-FACTS.
==================

I tested my program on almost every racetrack in ICR2, NR1, NR2, except
Daytona and Indianapolis. Known bugs on specific tracks are reported later.
I am testing my program, after every little updating, and I do not finish
the work unless my program works correctly. Nevertheless if you find some
error during editing or playing with edited files, please report me.

Of course, if you have any comments, or suggestions on my program, please
write to me. I have not too much time to work on this program, so please do
not ask me hard things or maybe some edited LP-files.

4. HOW TO INSTALL ?
====================

After unpacking just simply copy the LPEDIT directory, containing all needed
files to the main directory of the game you want to edit. For example for
ICR2: copy LPEDIT into D:\INDYCAR2\ . After a good routin in use this
program you may delete not needed TXT-files from the directory. But anyway
do not delete EGAVGA.BGI because it is part of the program.

This program can produce readable TXT-files from each LP-file if you want,
and -of course- can update your original LP-s, so use it at your own risk,
and create back up copies from all of your original files if you want.

This program works from its own directory, so do not bother about it makes
any unusual dust-files on your hard drive - except those TXT-s in the track
directories.

5. HOW TO START ?
==================

You have to just simply run the 'edit40.exe' file to get into the program.
This program uses a large amount of memory for storing the LP-files' datas
in huge arrays.: 284k - ICR2,
                 284k - NR1,
                 312k - NR2, and also 112k for the program code itself. So
alltogether about 400/425k. If you have not enough memory you get an error
message. If you are SURE that you have every file and directory in the right
place, and program says that something is missing, or wrong, then EXIT!
This only happens when the memory is not enough, and the system could not
recognized and signed it, and kept up the work. The more the BASE memory,
the more reliable the startup. (Your very last chance is Windows because
it can allocate much more memory to my program than DOS. In this case RUN
my program under Windows.)

After startup, the program will check the game's type by looking after the
main EXE-file. It will be configured by this: INDYCAR.EXE - ICR2,
                                              NASCAR.EXE  - NR1,
                                              NASCAR2.EXE - NR2. If the
program does not find one of these files because you rename them, you have
to choose manually. But be careful! There are major differences between NRx
and ICR2 games, so I cannot assume responsibility for any data losses, or
problems caused by wrong choice of game type.
