Well, my other partner in hex-crime, Erik Novales, has
promised to do an upgrade set of missions for RUSSIA for the
Pe-8. Although this 4-engined Russian bomber existed, it
was built in small numbers (<100) and never made any impact
on the war, really. So the scenarios for the Pe-8 ARE
coming, they are just "what-ifs". Now, for the Me262 slot,
if you want to utilize them for your own favorite MOD >>>>>
missions, here's what you do: go into the HISTG.RUS file
(which is the Russia version of the HISTG.PAC file). You
will see a bunch of "20"s (ie, blanks) where the names of
the 262 missions used to be. They start at (debug) 2a7.
You can change these "20" codes to any name (like "whoababy"
for example. You will want to center the name by having an
equal amount of leftover space (ie "20"s) on each side of
the mission name you choose. Then, go to the end of the
file. You'll see a listing of all the missions, in order
(ie the 6 BF missions, the 6 FW missions, then the 262
missions. etc). Rename WHOA.MIS to fit the space, ie >>>
the first Me262 mission is PRAG-ME. (all the 262 missions
are 7 bytes long). So rename WHOA.MIS to, let's say
WHOABAB.MIS. Don't forget to rename the .TXT also. Then
hex in the WHOABAB in place of the letters PRAG-ME. Now,
when you copy the HISTG.RUS over the HISTG.PAC, you'll see
"Whoababy" listed as a mission on the first Me262 line, and
when you press it, it will load because you changed the
second part as well. Of course, now you have to remember to
place the files in the MIS subdirectory now.
Another idea, however, is to use the training mission slots.
You can use the same methodology to change them to diffent
missions, and if you're like me, you probably don't use them
much anyway. If this doesn't make sense, please let me
know. I'll elaborate if necessary.
