SUBJECT: SWOTL MODS HELP

You should have one file called BOBPAC.ARJ, this contains
the graphics you will need for some of the modules like
Afrika, Russia, and others. If you don't have all 4
expansion disk sets you won't be able to run the modules
however, since they were designed with those disks in mind.
The plane files usually contain at minimum just a SPC (EXP)
and at most a text file and some PAC files as well.
The SPC or EXP file can go into the \AC subdirectory. You
will have to do some "name matching" to place the rest of
the files since there are so many it is hard to tell you
where each one should go.
If you use Anthony's SWOTL MANAGER program, you should
create a new SWOTL subdirectory called \HANGAR and put all
the EXP plane files there. However, some of my files require
the use of the install/uninstall batch files. The batch
files go in the main \SWOTL directory, the plane EXP file
goes in the \AC directory. If there are any PAC files most
of those will go in the \CP (I'm no longer sure) directory
I believe or the one that has similar files in it. This is
particularly true for my He111H-16, Bf110G-2, and Ju87G-1
that use BOB graphic files.
What I would have done was to extract one file at a time to
the \TEMP directory, studied it, then copied it to the SWOTL
area it was intended to go to, then erase the files in the
\TEMP subdirectory before extracting the next file. Having
1600 files in that directory is going to make it kind of
hard to figure out what files go together.
All custom missions MIS/TXT files go in the main \SWOTL
directory. All pilot files go in the main \SWOTL directory.
PROMOTE, SCORE, FIX and their related TXT files go in the
main \SWOTL directory. These use debug so you either have to
have a path setup to find debug in your \DOS directory or
copy the debug file to the \SWOTL directory.
Since my Bf110G-2 is based on the P38, you can use that
plane. The He111H-16 is based on the B17 so you can use that
one. The Ju87G-1 is based on the Bf109G-6 so you can use
that plane.
Some of the other planes just use modified aircraft files
that are in SWOTL already. The A36A is a modified P-51B. The
P-51H is a modified P-51D. The Fw190D-9 is a modified
Fw190A-5. These modified plane files can be simply "plugged
in" to replace the original planes after some file copying
and renaming.
Example: To use the A-36A you should copy the A-36A.EXP file
to the \AC subdirectory. Then make a backup copy of the
P51B.SPC file.
COPY P51B.SPC P51B.BAK
Then copy the A-36A file into the P-51B.SPC file.
COPY A36A.EXP P51B.SPC
Now load SWOTL, then select any mission that uses the P-51B
and you will be flying the A-36A "Apache" ground attack
plane. You can do the the same or similar changes to SWOTL
for the other planes that don't come with PAC files.
