-------
Summary
-------
OfficeView Pro is a program that displays the comings and goings of
employees at the glance of a screen. Your receptionist can give
rapid, well-informed responses to clients and phone calls. Messages
can be passed between users, too. Easy to use and install, this
tool can improve efficiency and communication among employees.

OfficeView Pro appeals to administrators since they can customize
it to meet their needs using the many options available. The
program can be centrally administered and updated from any
workstation.

Some of the many options available in OfficeView Pro include:

 - The option is available to show that employees are "In" when
   they turn on their computers or "Out" when they shutdown;

 - If the program is left running, the "In" remark can be
automatically changed to "Out" to avoid mis-information on
   the next day;

 - The message system can be disabled;

 - The column titles and many labels can be customized to suite
   your needs;

 - Remark changes can be recorded in a central database file; and

 - You can add customized remarks to the pick list, including
prompts for information, such as return dates and times.

The Help file has a complete list of these options and features.

OfficeView is available in both 16 and 32 bit versions that can
be installed into same directory so the two versions run
harmoniously using the same database. Refer to our web site at
www.officeview.com for more information and latest free download
evaluation copies.

-------------
Installation:
-------------
The file OVP.exe is a compressed self-extracting install program
with the ability to cancel the installation. It does not change
any existing DLL's and installs into the directory of your choice.
An uninstall program is also supplied.

Software/Hardware Requirements

Windows 95, 98 or NT, and a file server or peer to peer network.

Disk Space Requirements

The shared network directory should have five megs of free disk
space. This allows for over three megabytes of spare room to hold
messages. For the client workstations, less than one megabyte of
free disk space is needed.

Installing OfficeView

All the OfficeView Pro files are packaged in a standard
installation program. From any workstation that has access to the
server, use MS Explorer to run the installation program (OVP.exe).
Normally, you should install the files into a dedicated directory
that is shared by all users. Give all OfficeView Pro users full
(execute, read, write, delete and create) privileges to the shared
directory. Evaluators may want to use a directory on their
local hard drive.

To install the program, select Run from the Start menu on the taskbar.
Enter the path and installation program name of the downloaded file,
for example, //server1/oviewpro/ovp.exe. Press <Enter> and follow
the on-screen instructions. This will install all of the OfficeView
Pro files into the subdirectory of your choice and create a program
group/shortcut for them. The installation takes only a few seconds.

The installation adds a folder called OfficeView Pro to the Programs
menu on the Start button or adds a group called OfficeView Pro to the
Program Manager. This folder or group has shortcuts to start the
program, run the Help file, access the OfficeView web site and run
an uninstall program that allows you to remove the software from
your system.

Now you are ready to enter information into the program. To do so,
log on as "Admin" using either the password "abc" or leaving it blank.
If the logon screen does not appear when you start the program, select
"Log Out" on the "Actions" menu to bring the logon screen into view.
To populate the board with user names, click on "Actions" and "Add Name"
or type Ctrl+N and type the name. The screen that prompts you to add
each user name will also enable you to set the options to be given
to each user.

For each new name added, the Employee Information screen appears.
You can fill out this form or leave it for the employees to enter
themselves. After you have entered all the names, it is prudent
to make a backup copy of the OfficeView Pro shared directory.

To give 32-bit workstations access to OfficeView, open the Network
Neighborhood icon on the desktop and browse to the OfficeView server
directory. Find the download installation program (OVP.exe) and
run it by double clicking the mouse. When prompted for the type
of installation, select the one for workstations. The program
adds an OfficeView Pro folder to the Programs menu on the Desktop
Start button.

Another way to run the installation file OVP.exe located in a
OfficeView folder on the server, is to select Run on the Start menu
and type: \\<computer name>\<path>\OVP.exe (where <computer name>
is the name of the server and <path> is the path to OVP.exe). For
example: \\Server1\OViewPro\OVP.exe
This operation is simple enough that many users can do this on
their own.

OfficeView Pro assigns a blank password to employees allowing them to
log on without entering a password. Normally, users will then choose
a password of their choice.

Admin mode is useful only for administrative purposes and should not
be used for every day use because many of the normal functions are
disabled. Upon registration, you will be provided with a back door
password, in case you forget your Admin password. Evaluation
versions will always accept the "abc" Admin password.

If you are using the Windows 95 operating system, you need to apply a
Microsoft patch to fix a network caching problem that will eventually
cause database file damage. Blank messages are usually the first
indication that you have faulty Windows 95 network software. If the
message screen is incomplete, most likely the message database is
damaged. Deleting all messages may removed the damage. To prevent
this problem from occurring, apply the virtual redirector update
available from Microsoft at
http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Vrdrupd.exe
For more information, refer to the Help file.
