Welcome to the new, friendlier Dawn. Completely rewritten from the 
ground up, Version 5 not only improves performance, but packs some 
new features as well.

New in this release:
-Opera is now supported 
-Properties box to view and edit an entry 
-The ability to delete an entry 
-Fixed and extended Eudora support (previously unavailable due to a bug) 
-An upgrade to Netscape 6/Mozilla support (previously limited access and 
 wrong interpretation) 
-Many bug fixes for greater stability for the final release

Dawn converts Address Books among various Address Book Programs.
Dawn is equipped with an extraction feature. It is absolutely free to use
and distribute in the form seen here, but the source code is not freely
distributable.

Note that the following files bundled with dawn are part of mozilla and
are available freely with source at www.mozilla.org:

plc4.dll

xpcom.dll

Dawn works with the following programs:

-Corel WordPerfect Address Book 8.x 
-Eudora 3.x and 4.x 
-Internet Explorer / Outlook Express / Windows Address Book (WAB) 
-Juno 
-Mozilla/Netscape 6 
-MS Outlook 98 / 2000 
-Netscape Communicator 4.x 
-Netscape Navigator 3.x 
-Opera (New) 
-Palm support through Palm Desktop (read only) 
-Pegasus Mail 3.x 
-Pine (PC and UNIX) 
-Other programs which can use/import/export LDAP/LDIF, Comma Separated
Value (CSV), plain text, one per line or comma separated formats or 
store addresses in a text file suitable for extraction 

System Requirements

-Pentium 90MHz or higher microprocessor 
-Windows 95, 98 or later (Windows ME included) or Windows NT 4 or later 
 (Windows 2000 included) 
-VGA 640x480 or higher-resolution screen supported by Microsoft Windows. 
-About 1 MB of free disk space 
-Windows Installer (if not already present) 

Installing Dawn

Please uninstall any previous versions before proceding. 

  Obtain Dawn from a download site.
  If you don't already have Windows Installer (If you have Windows 2000 you do):
    go to http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~zakharin/Software/
    Download the appropriate version (Windows 95 or 98 or NT)
    Run the executable and follow instructions
  If you don't already have HTML Help:
    go to http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~zakharin/Software/htmlhelp.html
    Download HTML Help (and Internet Explorer if necessary)
    Run the executable and follow instructions
  Uncompress the Dawn zip file into another empty folder
  Run setup.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions. 
  Dawn should now be available in the Dawn program folder of the Start Menu 

Note

Dawn does not come bundled with some essential files that many 
people already have.
