- LISTENING TO FRENCH WITH LANGBOX -

Dear User:

To get acquainted with LangBox you are urged to access and read
the LangBox.hlp file.

Once acquainted with the LangBox program, do the following to
access and work with the five sets of French exercises related
to "FrenchClozePlus". One set - Preview - (a set of 10 multi-word
items) might be accessed first. Next you might access and work
with Verbs-1 and Verbs-2 in the FCPlus2 subdirectory. Each of these
sets of 15 items relates to about half of the verb forms featured
in my "FCPLite2" program. In another subdirectory - Lectures - you
will find two ten-item sets of multi-word exercises that relate to
the four readings in "FCPLite2".

Each of the above-mentioned sets has a textfile (located in
related subdirectories. Those files -- accessible via Notepad or
another editor -- list the sets' English and French equivalents.

NOW TO BEGIN...

This "French-in-a-Box" program is a stand-alone tutorial and when
accessed as such should prove profitable. Its was, however, created
to serve as a supplement (audio component) to the "Lite" version
of my "FrenchClozePlus" tutorial. [My website has details about
the latter.]

Access the LangBox program by double-clicking on the Langbox.exe
file. Then click on "study" to move to that mode of operation.
Next, click on the folder icon to see what is available as sets of
items for viewing and listening to. Click the folder "Preview" or
"FCPlus2" to open it. To load a given set of items, select
the *.lbd file of your choice and then click "open" to load it.

Once you have been sucessful in the preceding steps, click on
the "Answers" label to toggle or check off the one or several
answer types that you wish to see and/or hear. To confirm your
choice(s) click once again on "Answers". Likewise check the
"Question" label to choose how LangBox will present the item for
study (an English-language word group, a French word-group, a
graphic, or an audio component). [NOTE that the enclosed French
program was not designed to allow for "graphics" as a "question"
option. So choose: (1) "audio", if you wish to test your listening
skill; (2) "definition", if you wish to see only the French text
as the challenge of choice; or (3) "word", if you prefer to see
only the English word-group. Pressing or clicking the "Go"
button, after defining your personal mode of study, will challenge
you accordingly. Then clicking on "Go" again will provide the
answer.

You are then free to listen again (and again) to what you will
have heard by clicking on the right arrow. [ If your "Question"
choice was "audio", you may repeat what you will have heard as
challenge, as often as you wish before requesting the answer. ]

Remember that if you do not wish to see the graphics, you may
toggle off the "graphic" choice in the "Answers" menu.

[ Note, too, that if the right arrow of the audio component does
not appear highlighted -- ready for your input, click on the
highlighted stop button to highlight the arrow button! The latter
procedure may at times be necessary, if you wish to hear the
word-group repeatedly...before or after you have clicked on the
"go" button to view answers. ]

Be reminded, finally, that the LangBox program is a product of
Justin Park - who has graciously permitted its free use in the
exploration of "FCPLite2". I am indeed grateful to Justin Park and
thank him for the opportunity to add this audio component to my
"lite" version of "FrenchClozePlus".

Good luck to you, the user.
