WinLock is a security program that will protect your computer
from unwanted intruders. It operates in much the same way as
a Password protected screen saver but offers increased protection
from computer restarts.

Installation & Configuration -----------------

Download and run the installation and Run WinLock.
If you get an error the first time you run WinLock then it will be
because the VB run times are not installed on your computer, they are
needed for WinLock to run. You can down load and install them from
the microsoft site at this location.

http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Msvbvm50.exe

This may not be needed, please try running winlock before downloading the
runtime files.

you run WinLock you will be promoted to enter an unlocking password.
Passwords must be at least 6 characters in length and are case
sensitive. Pick a password that you will remember but others will
not readily know, such as your birthplace for example. Press ok once
you have done this. (Please read the bottom of this document about
what to do if you forget your password)

Next on the main screen in the options section move the scroll bar
to set the number of minutes of inactivity before WinLock will lock
windows. 1 to 30 minutes.

WinLock is always active and protecting your computer while it is
running. Press the Hide button to minimize WinLock, to view the
options again double click on the WinLock icon in the Windows system
tray.

Operation -----------------

After you have not operated your computer for the Locking time you set,
WinLock will activate. WinLock will blank your screen. To unlock your
computer simply click the left mouse button once and type your password
and windows will be restored. For security reasons you will not see your
password or any characters as you type. If you are having difficulty at
this stage please check the state of the Caps Lock or Num Lock keys.

The "Lock Now" button will immediately Lock your computer. Press this for
instant protection.

The "Lock Down" button will shutdown windows Locking. This is recommended
to protect your computer over night. When your computer is powered on
WinLock is protecting and the unlocking password must be entered to gain
access.
