TwoTrak copyright (c) 1996 by 'Concocted*Logic' and Jim Burrell

The Program
TwoTrak is shareware, it is not a free program. You may use TwoTrak
free for 30 days at which time you must register it if you wish to
continue using it. Please see the registration form below for
instructions on how to register TwoTrak.

For the latest version of TwoTrak for Windows, see our web site at
http://home.teclink.net/~jburrell/TwoTrak.html

TwoTrak is a two track stereo (4 track mono) wave file recording and
mixing program.

TwoTrak is designed to allow the user to record a wave file while
listening to the playback of a previously recorded wave file, and
then overdub (i.e. combine) the record file on top of the play file.
Using this technique, the user can create a wave file containing
several instruments and/or voices, much like a song from compact disc
or the radio.

System Requirements
Window 3.x or Windows 95 (Versions for each are available)
Any Windows supported sound card with full duplex drivers
(Optional: A more powerful processor provides better file sync with
higher sampling and bit rates.)

Installation
To install, create a directory on your hard drive called TwoTrak.
Place the TwoTrak zip file in this directory and unzip it using any
recently released unzip utility program. The file will expand and
create three new files; readme.txt, TwoTrak.doc (same as readme.txt
in Microsoft Word v7.0 format), and TwoTrak.exe.

If you have Windows 95, right click on TwoTrak.exe and drag the file
to your desktop and release. Then click on 'Create shortcut'. Double
click on the TwoTrak icon to run the program.

If you have Windows 3.x, use program manager to create a new group
and an icon for TwoTrak.exe.

Instructions (of the most basic kind) for operation of 'TwoTrak.exe'
When TwoTrak is first run you will see the 'Record Trak' on the left
and the 'Playback Trak' on the right. The 'Record Trak' will show
'trak1.wav' as the suggested name for a file to record. The following
is a tutorial sequence of steps to allow the user to record a 'trak'
(wave file) and then overdub another trak on top of the first.

1. Set the desired 'Wave Format' by clicking on the << Wave Format >>
    button.
2. Set the desired input (i.e. microphone or line) and the recording
level using either the software that came with your sound card or
    Windows mixer software.
3. Click the Record button and record your voice or music.
4. Click on Stop Recording.
5. If you wish you may listen to your recording at this point by
typing (or cut and paste) the name of your newly recorded file
(i.e. trak1.wav) in the 'Playback Trak' filename window and
clicking Playback. If you hear nothing go back and check step 2,
then repeat steps 3 and 4.
6. Change the name of the record file to a different name such as
'trak2.wav'. You can not record and play using the same file name.
7. Click << Record+Play >> and record your voice or music. Note you
will also hear your previous recording being played back at the
    same time.
8. Click on Stop Recording.
9. Click on >> Overdub >>. This will combine the first and second
recordings into the 'Playback Trak' (i.e. trak1.wav).
10. Click on Playback. You should hear the first and second recordings
    being played together.
11. At this point you may repeat steps 6 through 10 to add additional
    traks.

Distribution
TwoTrak is freely distributable as long as this document is included.
You are encouraged to send the TwoTrak.zip file to your friends.
