aChat v 0.0.1

Chat server, the clients are every WEB browsers.

It is difficult to initiate a new service in Internet, because of this aChat offers a chat server working with HTTP protocol in TCP/IP networks. The program is simple and easy to use. The program is freeware and it is with open sources written on C.

The program could not be adjusted by parameters. There are not rooms, colors, fonts, etc. I look at it as an example for Application Service Provider program over HTTP protocol. Everyone wishing to modify this program could rely on my support and source code.

Requirements:

Server side - every PC running under Windows 9x/NT/2000 with installed TCP/IP protocol.
Client side - every WEB browsers with frame support. Client's scripts are not running.

Usage and Troubleshooting:

1. In InTRAnet solution - there are not. Everybody knows the name or the IP address on PC witch is server. Should be typed in a browser's field "address and it is all.
2. In InTERnet solution is a bit more difficult. First of all we have to find our IP address, if we have not a permanent one. For this purpose Windows programs WINIPCFG or IPCONFIG could be used. Secondly IP address should be available to our clients.
3. If you use Internet behind Firewall, proxy or a kind of router distributing a real IP address between many local users - this program will not be helpful.

Security:

Warning! Announcement of your IP address could lead to all known attacs!
