Introduction

Welcome to Converter.net. If you are one of the 1,700 plus users of VBC, you know how much time it can save.

If you use VB a lot, you probably have seen the "Retained is a invalid key. Project1 can't be loaded" error message when opening VB6 files in VB5. Converter.net can make files made in VB6 compatible with VB5!

New Features

* Many bugs fixed
* Simpler use
* Backs up original file
* Self-Repairing
* New Command Line Switch

Using Converter.net

To use Converter, first unzip Converter.exe to a place on your hard drive. Then, double-click it.

The first time you start Converter.net, it will ask you to find the path to your copy of VB, and will ask to rebuild the key file needed to run it.

To convert a VB6 file to VB5:
1. Start Converter.net
2. Click the little "..." button next to the "Input" textbox.
3. Find the project file you want to convert.
4. Click Convert.

To add right-clicking converting
1. Go to File Types box. In Win 98 or Win Me, this is Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types Tab
2. Find the entry for "Visual Basic Project" or ".VBP"
3. Click Advanced
4. A new box, "Edit File Type" will come up. Click "New"
5. A box called "New Action" will come up. Enter "Convert" in Action textbox and enter the path to Converter.net for the "Program used to perform action:"
6. Click OK
